FEBRUARY 2019 SIGHTINGS
Brendon Lake on 2/28 reported via eBird: Hitting the Trifecta on swans at Fox River Shores Forest Preserve: 1 Tundra, 2 Mutes, and 6 Trumpeters! Diane Hansen on 2/22 reported via e-mail: I stepped outside on the west side of Elgin to walk a mile down to the Elgin dam area and heard some Sandhill Cranes. After a moment of scanning the sky I was able to locate a flock of about 40 circling over my block. Interestingly, this is
the exact date I saw my first sandhills last year.
Walt Lutz on 2/19 reported via e-mail: To my surprise I saw and heard a flock of Sandhill Cranes heading north today at Brunner Forest Preserve. Amy Wells on 2/15 reported via e-mail: 2-15-2019 approximately 7:18am. Bald eagle landed in a field on Melms and Walker in Hampshire, IL.
